An Addition.

One thing that I forgot to mention in yesterday’s short article on Advertising and Sponsorship is the trend towards sponsored advertising on Twitter. I daresay most people have heard that Twitter intends inserting sponsored Tweets into the time lines in order to raise money for their service, with a clear ethics policy on stating that they are sponsored. What needs to be addressed by some people is the trend towards individuals sending out their own adverts and sponsored Tweets disguised as real Tweets. I must admit that I hate this. I click on a link and come to a poker website which has nothing to do with the original message, and nothing to do with the person Tweeting. Or a link which adds money to someones account just because the click was followed through.

Many of these Tweeters ‘forget’ to mention that they are being sponsored and that, to me, shows a lack of true business ethics. For me such Tweets are spam, and I tend to rate the person making such Tweets accordingly.

Love & Kisses, Viki.
