I must admit, I could never have imagined that I wouldn’t look forward to the vacation. All the way through High School it was the one thing which pulled most people through the boredom of the day, through the grind of learning: the promise of free time to do whatever you wanted; to go to camp; visit friends; explore; relax.
Now, with college taking Easter break, it doesn’t seem quite so enticing. The first semester is over, the second is waiting right outside the door, and I have just over two weeks until we go back into the lecture hall and fill our heads with theories, facts and figures.
It’s not so much the vacation which is the problem, more the lack of vacation. My Love does not have the same free time as I do. She gets up each morning – on Monday an hour earlier than normal thanks to the Daylight Saving Time or Summer Time tomorrow morning – disappears to do what she does while I stay here, and comes back in the evenings. I guess a little bit like a marriage, but only for a short period of time.
Guess I’m just going to have to do all those leisure things I’ve been wanting to do during college time but kept on putting off. Now, to get the energy together.
It’s the same for all of us: when we’ve got less time we want to do so much. When the time is suddenly there, when we can get out and do almost anything, the energy, the interest is lacking. But I shall force myself, and I will enjoy myself.
Love & Kisses, Viki.
