Photography and IQ.

Posted by Viktoria Michaelis on August 17, 2012 in Immoral Conversations |

It is amazing how some people view others simply because they use a different software, belong to a different club, have a different hairstyle or whatever. Normally sensible people come out with the most idiotic comments when they don’t stop to think, or stop to consider that what they really think doesn’t work in our present society and certainly not in polite company. And then there are those who simply don’t think before opening their mouths, or pressing Send, and try to cover up their real thoughts by ignoring what they’ve already said.

Take this Google Plus user as an example:

Yeah, instagram is for low IQ photographers. Which kind of compliments the facebook user base.

A clear statement and, I think, easy enough for anyone with an ounce of sense to see that it is stupid. Let’s not mince words here: it is stupid. Anyone using Instagram – and I use it too – must have a low IQ, as do Facebook users.

Now, as you know, I am no great fan of Facebook, even if I do allow my Facebook page to be regularly updated and, occasionally, hold conversations there. Even so, such a statement…

And he goes a little bit further in another comment, after I called him out on this one, to say that it is clear Instagram users have a low IQ because they use so many filters.

Of course, as we all know, no professional photographer, no serious or intelligent photographer would ever use a filter. They also don’t use Lightroom or Photoshop. There are no professional photographers who combine several photographs together, using montages or whatever, to produce a finished work and then sell them for hundreds of thousands of dollars. No, none at all. Only people using Instagram do things like that.

Well, apart from the hundreds of thousands of dollars bit perhaps.
