In theory, if you happen to be superstitious, a black cat brings luck just as much as a pinch of salt thrown over the shoulder wards off bad luck. I write in theory because I am sure no one can tell me, without a good deal of forethought, exactly how this works.

Is it good luck when a black cat crosses your path from left to right, or from right to left? And what happens when this lucky black cat has a few gray hairs, does it still count?
And with salt, how does that work?

Is the salt thrown over your left or your right shoulder? Does it have to be a particular salt or will any salt work? How long can it lie on the ground where you’ve thrown it before you can clear it up without risk of the bad things coming back again, and does all the salt have to land on the ground or can you get exactly the same effect when a few grains land on your shoulder?
Today a black cat crossed my path from right to left, changed its mind half way and went back again. So, am I halfway lucky, can I expect some small luck in the future, or does the change in direction negate the good?
Sometimes I have the strangest thoughts.
Love & Kisses, Viki.
