Life must be very boring indeed for all those who live a Politically Correct existence. By Politically Correct we tend to think of words and phrases which shouldn’t be used in polite company; images which cannot be shared because they are, well, demeaning; jokes which cannot be told; books which cannot be offered to one and all on library bookshelves.
Politically Correct has a very good lobby, although it is split into smaller interest groups which are so active you might think that the whole was a whole and not just a large set of loud-mouthed people fighting their own corner. Not that I have anything against such groups, when there really is a case to answer, a cause to fight for. But really, Elle Magazine being lambasted because they had a front cover photograph of Melissa McCarthy in a bulky overcoat? Isn’t the outrage having the opposite effect? After all, she picked the coat to wear…
And don’t we laugh at funny things regardless of who they happen to anyway?
Love & Kisses, Viki.
