Amid all the highly publicized news from Amazon that they are thinking about using drones to deliver, and that they are considering using the vast amount of data they have gathered on customers to advance order, one small but interesting item of news seems to have slipped through the net. It is, however, one which only concerns authors and those who have uploaded books for sale on the Amazon Kindle site.

Previously everyone had to wait for their royalties, and by wait I mean they had to wait until they had earned enough money to meet a high basic limit before payment would be made.
Now Amazon has announced that all electronic payments for books sold will be made regardless of how much has been earned. There is still a waiting period, but at least all those who have only sold a few copies will now be able to reap the benefits of their hard work. And for those whose sales die before the former limit has been reached: the cash they’ve earned isn’t going to remain in Amazon’s coffers for the rest of eternity.
