Why I Love Women In Photographs

Posted by Viktoria Michaelis on November 2, 2014 in Absolute Hot! |

You can turn it every which way you will, when it comes to photographing people, there are some subjects which just fit in perfectly, and some which need to be forced. Small children and animals, sure, there we have cute straight away, no doubt about it; if you don’t get an ‘ahhh!’ from the viewers, then it hasn’t worked. Men, well, they’ve got to be strong, masculine, even macho in their appearance; good lines, muscular appearance all over, square chin and short hair with eyes that pierce into your very soul.

With women, though, it is harder to find a category. You have the standard advertising photography, the fashion shoots, the whimsical, skinny things selling you something which is never going to fit your real life body. You have the love pictures, the caring for others pictures, the home and garden, health and sport pictures and, of course, the real score for most, the erotic images.
For some reason, perhaps I am alone here, a good photograph of a woman can be erotic no matter the state of dress – or undress – no matter the lighting, the situation, black and white or color. There is just something there, when the photograph is properly done, which entices, which attracts. Perhaps that is why women models are so sought after, for their immediate appeal in almost any situation – be it lingerie or tractors – they draw the eye more than any other subject.

Oh, I am sure there are also plenty of male models who attract too, but male models tend to be aimed more at the male audience, selling suits is a good example. The men are well dressed, appealing, attractive, but hardly the focal center. We look at the clothes they are sporting far more than the model, which is basically what they are there for, as a mannequin to sell. Women, on the other hand, seem to have so many other facets, even when it comes to selling tractors. When was the last time you saw a man draped across a sports car in an advert? They drive, the smile, but they don’t drape. Their appearance, as a mechanism to attract attention, is not as wide-ranging as that of a beautiful woman.

Perhaps I am biased, I admit it, I have no problem with it. Term it whatever you will, women in photography, that’s a distinct yes. Is this sexual abuse? Is this taking advantage of women in a bad way? I think not: I feel it is more the power of the female, something which men simply do not have, one area where we, as women, are far ahead of our counterparts and where men should be campaigning for equality. Which they will never get, simply because a woman is just far more attractive, in every single way, in real life or within the folds of a magazine.

Love & Kisses, Viki.
