I came across this cartoon again this morning and it struck me as being more than appropriate to the situation our proposed / potential political masters in the United States appear to believe in. An alpha male who happens to be a celebrity can shoot someone on the streets and nothing will happen – which we have seen a few years ago, by the way – or make a grab for the intimate parts of a woman in the clear belief that she wants it, needs it, will not refuse it. This is, of course, not just the main Republican candidate’s belief but also, it would appear, the belief of many other male politicians and some other forms of ‘celebrity’.
A woman defending herself, however, is in the wrong. She will be publicly humiliated and chastised; forced to go through countless legal hoops to gain justice; forever marked as not just the victim, but as the person willingly advocating such actions by her dress, her appearance, or just where she happens to be.

For any right thinking person, it is clear that this has to change. It cannot be a mark of our civilized society that such actions go unpunished, that the real victim is further victimized in public, no matter who she may be.
And it cannot be the mark of a real man that he is able to loudly proclaim his conquests to the detriment of women without being vilified for his morals.
It says far more to me that a certain prominent person in the news today, when offering a prostitute ten thousand dollars for her services, was turned down. His monetary worth might be high – depending on accounting tricks – but his worth as a man, as a member of our society, is less than zero.
